After a week break, Grey’s Anatomy returned to the small screen featuring a squeamish medical case, a brave mother and the never-ending personal drama between the doctors.
Strangely, Meredith Grey’s usual voiceover was missing from the episode, which gave a different flavour to it.
As a whole, the episode was bearable to watch without any earth shattering and gasping moments, or at least not for the viewers. It seems like the characters and the action are on standby. This usually is not good for Grey’s Anatomy, this stillness usually suggests that something bigger may be on the it’s way the closer we get to the season finale.
Back at the familiar hospital setting, three importants things, some minor, others not, happened on the Thursday evening episode.
Dr. Pierce figured out on her own that something has been going on between Meredith and Riggs. However, her reaction is not surprising at all. Her initial reaction was like a teenager, whose best friend stole the cool guy. And after she decided to act like a victim and felt betrayed. On one hand, her behaviour is understandable, she opened up to Meredith about her crush on Nathan Riggs.
However, this kind of situations makes one think, why all these people who felt betrayed never want to consider the feelings of the other person or the fact that sometimes people tell white lies, omit information in order to protect those who love. Definitely, that sister fight comes to show once again how complicated we are as human beings, how relationship can get complicated and messy, even though we take all the precautions.
The second important thing in the episode was the quiet support that Dr. Hunt offered to Amelia. These two might step once again on the same path and finally start walking it together as a couple.
And last but not least, Dr. Webber and his very bossy wife, finally decided to make amends and break the ice between each other after a very long silent treatment from Dr. Webber’s side. Of course, in order to get back together, these two had the help from Dr. Bailey and April.
Who would have thought that April Kepner will turn into a meddler.
Somewhere else in the hospital, Edwards, Webber and Kepner were fight with worms. No matter how insignificant the case and the couple were, there was actually a nice hidden message that shows how shallow relationships can be nowadays, how easily people give up on someone just because of an obstacle.
The girl was simply sick. Her boyfriend one minute was ready to marry her and the next he was just walking out the door. Surprisingly, the guy apparently has some brain left in his head, and it seemed he gave some thought of the situation and came back to the girl he claimed was in love with.
And then there was “the couple” who made a second appearance this season on Grey’s Anatomy. In one of the early episodes, when Alex was banished from the surgical floor, he convinced Bailey to do a risky surgery on a woman with cancer who was pregnant. Now, some episodes later, the woman and her best friend came back. Unfortunately, this time Alex was able to save only the baby boy.
No matter how morbid it may sound, but the best scene in the entire episode was when finally that poor woman died. The scene itself was well shot and edited – no background music, just beeping monitors and quiet doctors. It was almost real.
Three more episodes left from the current Grey’s Anatomy season. Many things are going to happen, or at least based on the spoiler info provided. Buckle up, people!
The guilty pleasure Grey’s Anatomy is nearing its season finale and it’s promised to be hot!
