Change of scenery, a new perspective, the return of a certain familiar face, fancy and complicated surgery on adult twins combined with the ongoing medical and personal drama- all of this was wrapped up in last Thursday hour of Grey’s Anatomy. A stellar episode crafted in the good old fashioned Grey’s Anatomy way, where the characters and the audience are saying their long goodbye to the one and only Dr. Cristina Yang.
Switzerland. Shiny and dazzling hospital. Christina Yang, presenting her research. All eyes on her in a dimmed auditory room…. A question…. a voice…. a familiar voice…. everything goes still as if the time stops. Preston Burke reveals himself from the dark.
In a series of beautiful, intense and powerful scenes we were reminded why once upon a time Dr. Burke and Cristina were a couple and why things between them would have never worked out had they been married. But also we were reminded why they have always worked like a well spoilt machine, that they were a real married couple behind the OR walls. And like a real work husband Burke has enough trust in Cristina to leave his precious child in the capable hands of Dr. Yang, where she would be able to make all of her dreams to come true.
However, all this to happen Cristina Yang has to leave Seattle….and she didn’t needed to say anything when Meredith was waiting for her at the airport. The twisted sisters’ friendship evolved to the point where they can read each other’s minds and understand each other with a single look. A friendship and interaction that will be missed on Grey’s Anatomy when the audience has to bid its farewell to Dr. Yang in the right behind the corner season finale episode.
Speaking of married people and children, but real ones not metaphorical somewhere in Seattle Callie and Arizona started choosing a name for their non-conceived child yet. Dr. Robbins being funny and playful got herself in her own trap when Callie cheerfully agreed to put the name of an ancient Greek hero on the baby name list.
